On June 23, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan received Essam Nayyal, Charges d’Affaires of Embassy of Syrian Arab Republic to Armenia.

The Head of the parliament welcomed Essam Nayyal in the National Assembly and expressed his concern over the situation existing in Syria.

The RA NA Speaker expressed his gratitude for the warm attitude towards the Armenians, who had got asylum in Syria as a consequence of the Armenian Genocide and later towards the Syrian Armenian community. In the RA NA Speaker’s word, the grateful Armenians are ready to help the friendly people of Syria.

Touching upon the situation in the region, Ara Babloyan noted that some countries’ activities and its consequences should be in the centre of attention of Europe and the whole civilized world.

The RA NA Speaker highlighted the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups and talked about the formation of Armenia-Syria Friendship Group in the newly elected parliament. Ara Babloyan invited the members of the Friendship Group with Armenia of the Syrian Parliament.

Essam Nayyal, Charges d’Affaires of Embassy of Syrian Arab Republic to Armenia, congratulated Ara Babloyan on being elected the RA National Assembly Speaker. Mr Nayyal also congratulated the Armenian people on holding fair and transparent elections, witnessed by the international observers who had arrived in Armenia during those days.

The Charges d’Affaires presented the situation to the Speaker of the RA National Assembly and thanked the Armenian people, as well as the Syrian Armenian community for supporting the Syrian people during the crisis.

Referring to the issue of the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, Essam Nayyal has stated that now Turkey pursues the same policy towards the Syrian people, continuing its crimes in Syria.

At the end of the meeting Ara Babloyan wished the friendly people of Syria re-establishment of peace, welfare and stabilisation of the situation.
